Plastic Design Principles

The aim of the seminar is to enable the participants through an experimental use of materials and techniques, experiences that lead to conceptions of larger sculptures, where ceramics can enter into a diverse symbiosis with other materials. The damp, drying and then solidifying rock in the fire goes through many processes. This life of its own creates a material-specific liveliness and organic appearance. In dialogue with the hand clay forms are formed, which can not be thought exactly. Unlike materials such as wood or metal can behave, with which accurate structures can be calculated and implemented. In the course of the seminar we deal with selected contemporary sculptural positions and come in contact with fundamental questions of sculpture such as statics, movement suggestion in space, inside and outside of a body or with pedestal and auxiliary constructions as possible elements of the sculpture. The focus is on the physical properties and the expressive qualities of the materials. I accompany the students in the search for technical possibilities and solutions for the artistic-manual implementation of their individual ideas and projects. The focus is on the physical properties and the expressive qualities of the materials. I accompany the students in the search for technical possibilities and solutions for the artistic-manual implementation of their individual ideas and projects. The focus is on the physical properties and the expressive qualities of the materials. I accompany the students in the search for technical possibilities and solutions for the artistic-manual implementation of their individual ideas and projects.
